CORONAVIRUS - This is a time of uncertainty when face to face contact is not always possible. In these unusual circumstances, I work remotely via Zoom. If you would like to discuss remote counselling, please get in touch for a chat.
FEES & TIMES
The Initial Assessment session is £50 and lasts for 1 hour. Counselling fees are then £50 per 50-minute session.
I work during the day-time and sessions are held regularly at the same time each week. Please note that there are stairs to climb in order to reach my counselling room. There is no waiting room, so it is important that you arrive punctually rather than early, in order to protect your privacy, and that of any other clients I may be seeing.
I am fully professionally insured.
As a man who had been widowed five years ago, I thought I had a handle on what I needed to get through life, despite three periods on anti-depressants. Each episode was worse than the previous one and still I thought I was coping. Eventually, the right GP with the right turn of phrase suggested that the medication was only a sticking plaster and to stop the spiral I had to seek help.
Jo's style of gentle conversation very quickly put me at ease. I found I was able to verbalise issues that I had kept even from myself and far from offering a "one size fits all" solution, Jo helped me find ways of coping that suited me and continue to help me. A sustainable way forward. I have learned life skills that I wish I'd had at school and actually feel that I am moving on. Thank you Jo - Stephen
I feel happier, more confident and healthier thanks to you – you've been patient, kind and completely understanding. I haven't cut my arm for weeks, and although the thoughts of doing it are still there, you've helped me think of other ways I can make myself feel better – Amy
I have a new job and have found somewhere new to live. I am certain I wouldn't have managed this without your help. I'm not even convinced I would still be here, and I can't thank you enough. I told you that you were magical! Thankyou so so so much. – Emily
Thank you so much for your help and support Jo. Having reached a stage in my life where I felt the need for a calm space to work through pressures and anxieties, our weekly sessions have provided just that. Your welcoming therapy room and warm, supportive approach enabled me to reach a place of clarity and perspective previously missing in my hectic life. I cannot thank you enough, it really has been life changing. Elizabeth
WRITING FOR WELLBEING
In addition to my counselling work, I run workshops in reflective writing for wellbeing. The focus is on self-care and personal or professional development, where participants are able to explore their own issues, challenges and potential in a nurturing and non-judgemental environment. No previous writing experience is necessary and no-one need read out anything they have written. The experience of coming together with like-minded others can be a powerful, supportive and enlightening one! Food throughout the day is all home-made including sourdough bread and afternoon tea and cake.
Workshops can also be tailored to individual organisations or groups of people, and as part of Continuing Professional Development or corporate wellness.
